Social factors of procrastination: group work can reduce procrastination among students

Abstract Research on procrastination covers a variety of individual factors (e.g., conscientiousness) and this focus is reflected in interventions against procrastination. Less emphasis put situational social that may help students reduce procrastination, such as interdependence. Therefore, study investigates the relationship between interdependence with academic affective variables. Two vignette studies student samples ( N 1 = 320, 2 193) were conducted data was analyzed regression analyses covariance. Results both show lower state group work compared to work, especially participants high trait This difference more pronounced when accompanied by an active commitment finish task time. Further, interdependent related increased positive affect decreased negative affect. The results demonstrate relevance for point toward new approaches intervention.
